    should or shouldn't

I was wondering if that if my tank has a realy bad case of cynobacteris and i can't find a good supply of water for water changes, should i stop doing them and let it burn it's self out. I no i will have to top up the evaperated water but there's nothing i can do about that untill i can afford a good ro unit. The water that i have been putting in has a nitrate 15ppm and phosphate .1ppm and my tank water is nitrate 0ppm and phosphate .05ppm. So either the tank is doing it's job and getting rid of the bad water or the cynobacteria is using it up before i'm getting a chance to test for it........

No you should definitely continue doing water changes with the best water you can find. Can you buy jugs of distilled water there at grocery stores?

not for a decent price and the amount i need. So if i stopped the water changes wouldn't the cynobacteria just use up all the phosphate and nitrates and the die from (starvation). As i don't feed the tank to much and the live rock and skimmer should be useing all that the food pruduces. It just seems i'm feeding the cyno every time i do a water change.......

Anything that is living in your tank is adding to the amount of nutrients in the tank and I would suspect that the nutrient level in your tank would rise above the level of the water your using.

Use the search feature. Search using "cyanobacteria" as the search term. There are lots of previous discussions on this topic.
