ID please
recently i've been finding some little tubes in my live rock and out of the tubes are some long white things as thin as floss probably. it comes in and out of the tubes constantly trying to find stuff in the water or whatever it does. Anyone have any clue what this is and is it harmfull?

It's hard to say without the picture but I'm thinking it could be Vermetid snails. Not really detrimental but more of a nuisance as they can reproduce rapidly.
Here's some info about them (if it is indeed what they are).

I have them all over. They are hard to control as i bust them up quite regularly and my Cleaner Shrimp eats the insides out. They are hard to bust up and I use a my stainless cutters on them.
I have seen that they can irritate corals with their webs but not harm them. I usually go through them about every month to break up as many as I can get to. ![]() |

Thats affirmative on the snails...they are a nuisance...I make mine go away, they serve no good purpose that I know of..
