New life
Well I'm 2.5 months into my 75 gallon FOWLR. I have a couple new life forms on my live rock. I tried to get pictures but no luck. The first critter is about the size of a pencil erasure and is clear more than white. Round like a daisy with about 20 tentacles. I don't think its aiptasia based on picks I have seen. This is not brown at all. It will close up quickly if somthing comes by. It is on the same spot on the lR all the time.
The second critter is also clear to white. Looks like maybe a small jelly? Its cottony and whispy and moves in the current? about the size of a dime I guess. Also on the LR. |

Re: New life
You know, not all Aiptasia is brown in color. In fact, most that I have are pretty clear actually. So, please try again to take a picture of it and post it here. If it is indeed an Aiptasia it is better to try to get rid of it sooner rather than later as they reproduce rather quickly.

Re: New life
I can't come up with anything from those descriptions. It will probably take a picture for us to give a guess.

Re: New life
I'm learning on the photo taking. These aren't the best but maybe good enough. The file size is too big so hopefully this link will work. The last picture is of my cyano crop
Really I think the white things on the glass are snail eggs? The whispy thing I described disappeard so I really just have the flower type thing.CIMG0359 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

Re: New life
The "flower thing" is most likely some type of hard coral that hitch hiked on the live rock. Better image would help to identify it more closely to what it realy is.

Re: New life
I'll try to get a better image. It sure sucks back into the rock very quickly some times. Lots of bugs running around. Pods etc. FInally starting to see the life coming out of the live rock. All these critters are new and since it will be a while before I add fish looking for the new life is really all I have to do
