Shrimp question
Hi all,
I have added a couple of fire shrimp to my 54gal fowlr. My question is that while I figure they will scrounge the rocks for food what should I feed them? I feed the fish several variations of greens that I see them catching what makes it to the bottom but should I feed them some type of "meat"? How about ( boy how do I ask this??? ) regular shrimp that people eat? Is there something else? Thanks for the help... |

Re: Shrimp question
gator,
I moved your post from the Saltwater (Fish-Only) Aquariums Forum to the Reef Aquariums Forum in the hopes it will get more responses. Good luck!

Re: Shrimp question
My shrimp have always eaten anything I feed my fish and that includes the shrimp that people eat. If you have tongs, just place a small piece of shrimp down close to them and they will usually grab it and go. I would only give them a small piece each so it doesn't turn to waste.

Your shrimp will eat just about anything, including tiny pieces of shrimp or squid, etc. You should include meaty items, such as mysis shrimp, in your regular food for your clownfish and damsels. The shimp, however, will consume just about anything. I wouldn't be concerned about feeding them directly. ![]()

Re: Shrimp question
I really enjoy feeding my two Lysmata amboinensis, my granddaughter enjoys it even more.
It's fun watching them go after small tidbits. Like Ninong said, they will eat just about anything that you feed your fish.

Re: Shrimp question
Lee, thanks for moving the post. Others thanks for the replies. I've adjusted feeding a bit and as you have all said these shrimp seem to eat anything they can get their claws on.
Thanks again...
