    Flukes!

My fellow saltwater aquarists...this evening I had the most victorious battle! That's right! I did two things and won! First off, I set the fish trap for my little 6-line wrasse. He took the bate; I gave him a 10 minute freshwater bath in what was the most stressful circumstance...not for him--FOR ME!

As I stood there watching him twist for a second and then lay down flat on his side, I saw what made me very pissed. I saw FLUKES! They fell right off of the wrasse and sink to the bottom of the bowl in the form of white worms! As I became sure that the wrasse was fine and was returned to his home tank, I made certain that the dead flukes stayed DEAD. How? You ask? Well, I placed that bowl full of fluke/freshwater into my microwave oven and turned it to 3 minutes.

I wasn't COMPLETELY certain of my victory just yet; so...I decided to tack on another 2 minutes just to be sure. Once that was complete, I added a few drops of ammonia and dishwashing soap to the bowl. I scrubbed that bowl and sterilized it to such satisfaction that I nearly accounted for all variables of sanitary success.

    I felt good.

    I LOVE IT!
You should feel proud art....the only thing thats missing now is a picture of you flexing your muscles and holding the bowl of dead flukes in the air, hows the 6line doing now?

    Re: Flukes!

    thanks guys!

Oh...it was awesome! Unfortunately, since I nuked the flukes, the little wrasse has made himself more scarce in my presence. It's understandable but my actions felt like a necessary evil. It's kind of funny thinking about it b/c the wrasse can now swim FASTER! It's not carrying as much weight and is not harrassed by any of his tank mates. He can now hunt flatworms unihibited.

I love that little guy. I recommend everyone get a 6-line wrasse.
