My 60 Cube.

I plan on doing mostly SPS, maybe the occasional micro or ricordia.

Here is the hardware right now, I dont have the skimmer for SPS right now, but I plan on getting a new one in a few weeks.

60 Gallon Cube
SS Lumen Max 2 SE
SS Galaxy 400w Ballast
XM 400w 20k
18 Gallon Sump
Aqua-Euro USA Skimmer ( I know I know )
QuietOne 3000 for the return, I figure it is putting about 300gph out the return which is what I wanted.

I had a single K4 in my 60g long and I decided to change that out for 2 K3's. I only have one on at the moment, makes the LPS mad.

As fast as livestock, it is pretty slim at the moment, a pair of mated clowns (they are about 5 years old now), a small 6 line wrasse, a lemonpeel angel, and a royal gamma.

Inverts include a marshall island electric blue hermit, a few nassarius snails, and about 12-15 turbo snails, as well as a sand sifting star I have had about a year now.

Currently 90lbs of LR in the tank, I wanted some vertical space to allow the SPS to grow up.

There is an open brain I plan on keeping, and the hammers I am trying to get rid of right now actually.

On with the pics?

Here is the tank shortly after it was setup.

And here it is a few days later.

Here is the male clown, I couldnt get any decent pics of the other fish...lol

Here is the brain.

Here is one of the hammers...might as well.

Here is one of the marshall crab.

Here are some pics of the lemonpeel.

And that is it so far, the tank keeps a temp of 80 during the day. It is winter here and I anticipate the need for a chiller when the summer comes. I have started Prodibio as of yesterday, soon after the brain opened up significantly more which was a suprise as I was not expecting any visual changes for at least 3 months. Next up is a Korallin Ca Reactor and pH controller. SPS will soon follow.

I will get some better pics up soon!

Enjoy...

Re: My 60 Cube.

Thanks, I got it from a local reefer. As you can see from the last pic all of the LPS have been removed. They are in the prop tank. I plan on getting a monti frag in a few days from a local as well. The CA reactor goes in in 2 months. And now both koralias are on...

In 6 months I will have most everything done and that will be when I switch over to the Helios 20k bulb which has a higher PAR. Everything should be good.

Can't wait to get a clam later on.

Re: My 60 Cube.

VERY nice cube Binary! What is that real small coral to the left of the marshal island crab? Maybe a baby hammer popping out of the mother colony?

Re: My 60 Cube.

Thank you.

Yes, actually every colony of coral had new growth. Probably 4+ new heads on each.

That colony is in my buddies LPS/Softy tank right now.

Re: My 60 Cube.

Finally another Cuber! I've had my cube up and running for almost 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I am one of those evil Canister users... but I do plan to add a sump or fuge very soon. Can you give me some details on the sump you are currently using? Most of the standard sumps I see for sale ar 24" and I only have 23" inside my stand.

Great setup!

Re: My 60 Cube.

Hey,

Thanks for the comments. The sump I am using curently is more of a temporary solution until my TriggerSys sump/fuge is built. It is an 18 gallon tall. Just basic layout, overflow section > bubble trap > skimmer section > return section.

The sump was originally a dedicated refugium on my old tank, I ran it skimmerless for about 4 years but it was lightly stocked and only had LPS and softies. That is the reasoning for the bubble trap before the skimmer. I dont see any microbubbles in the tank though, it is not an issue.

Cant wait until it is replaced with this...
