    Re: Filter Questions

Uhhh, correct my last post to raise both ph and salinity slightly... Haven't measured "salinity" in a long time, just SG.

I'm not sure on the lights. Its a regular metal light. It fits across the top and has two light bulbs in it. One is the regular white and the other is the blue one. I dont think I have crushed coral. It looks like its just sand. The guy told me I could save some money using crushed coral but I told him I just wanted live sand.

Take a look at any tags or model numbers on the fixture. If you can't find that, look at the bulbs themselves and you'll find the type of bulb and wattage. Lighting is very important to any Marine Tank other than a Fish Only tank. It's very important that you know your lighting system. You also need to have an idea how old your bulbs are.

    Okay...

    Light is:
    Aquarium Equiptment, Model: 48DB-PS
    Rated: 120 VAC, 60 Hz, 40 W.

    White Bulb:
    Eclipse Natural Daylight F40-T10

    Blue Bulb:
    Coralife Actinic F40-T12-BP

They are about 6 months old.

Just an update, I lost two fish so far.
    My two favorite fish.
My green mandarin and my yellow tang.

I had them in a smaller tank which was doing okay, until one day they started looking bad. I then tested levels and they were through the roof, and my big tank was alot better.
The ammonia was 0.25 and the nitrite was 0.25 and the pH was 7.8 and the nitrate was 20.

I told my self, I only have two choices, leave them in the small tank and they will die or put them in the big tank and hope they live.

I am going crazy and I dont know what to do.
I did a small water change today hoping the levels would go down and the remaining fish would survive.

I wish I would have found this forum before I started the tank to do it right.

I put some Stress Zyme in the tank and I am also putting biozyme in it daily.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please feel free to let me know :P
