Well...........snails.......worms.......long story

I walked in tonight and found a Margarita snail upside down on my sand bed. The smaller snail in the picture......not sure what it is.......was on top of the margarita snail. After I took them both out of the tank in a glass jar .........I noticed this white worm in the mix. I put the margarita back in the tank. The worm and the other snail went in da trash. I seem to loose snails on the sand bed. Thought it was just mainly astreas not being able to right themselves.........Even lost a Mexican Turbo while I was gone for a week.

Well.......hope these pictures help

Best to view as a slideshow I think

Hi lightcycler,

Snails are very sensitive to osmotic shock. How long do you have the snails before they die? How long do you acclimate them?

Re: Well...........snails.......worms.......long story

Most of them were in the tank for a few months before dieing. I had a friend come by and add some DI makeup water while I was gone on business for a week and he may have added the water to fast or something. Working on getting a drip makeup system.

I acclimated in the beginning for about 6 hours with a drip.

Any thoughts on the worm? Just a normal worm? I know I need a better camera........its a good digital but doesn't work well for closeups and into the tank.

It is hard to tell with those pictures. Usually worms in tanks are scavengers and therefore I would suspect that the snail was already dead and the worm went to eat what was left. I wouldn't think the worm killed the snail.
