Hey Mike,

Can't wait to see the photos. I've been considering that since I saw you mentioned it before. Would love to see what it looks like in a "real" environment.

I'm sure I will stick with the plan. Even if it takes me a little longer to get it going, I'll be happy in the end and I guess that's what matters. That and all the inhabitants live healthy and happy lives.

Well I havent really been hitting the debates on lighting Mike.....so you very well could be right...but the last Issue I heard w/the t5's was the heat that would radiate off of them could be worse than a MH

Re: Ya, another 90g build...but this one is MINEEEEE! :-D

I'm just being a pain Rocky, in all honesty though, T5 has worked better for me. I have 4 overdriven bulbs and a single 54W actinic, and the heat they produce is LESS then the heat I had with 2 250W Halides, and a single 110W VHO actinic.

As for growth and color, my SPS did lose a bit of color at first with the change, but everything colored back up in a couple months, and actually looked BETTER then it did before. Now if only I could keep my Ca and Alk levels up, I would have out of this world growth.

I think T5's are probably the best choice for tanks 4ft long, and up to 2ft wide, as long as the depth is less then 30". For tanks larger then those dimensions, then halides are still the way to go.

Re: Ya, another 90g build...but this one is MINEEEEE! :-D

Yaaaaaa...what he said. LOL

Plus, it's the cheaper option for me right now that would still work with most of the corals I would want to put in the tank. I don't think (again...keyword here is *think* ) I'm going to go too nuts with corals, so the T5's should work plenty fine.

I could make a point also that I do live in Vegas and the MH's would be too hot here...but, in reality, everything is too friggin' hot here. So, I can't use that excuse.

Gene - Thanks a ton for the evil grin.

Mike - I forgot to ask you...how many hours do you keep your four T5's on for? How about the one "dusk/twilight" actinic? Just keep that on one hour pre and post the 4 main lights?

Well, the cool thing is, this Friday I'll be ordering the T5 lighting setup and also an RO/DI unit.

The last thing I'll need to really get started is the sand and the LR. Then I'll be on my way to start cyclin', baby!!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!!

Normally I keep the 4 on about 10 hours, and the single 12. An hour before, then during, then an hour after.

Right now I am re-acclimating the corals to the T5's, so I am starting out at 5 hours and will work my way up from there.

Cool...thanks for the info, Mike.

Is it Friday yet??? I want to order these darn lights. LOL

What's scary is I'm more excited about ordering the lights and having them come in than the interview I'm supposed to have early next week for a change of departments/promotion at work. Shows just where my priorities are at right now. LOL!!!!

That happens Mat, wait until you see the packing Debbie uses, she will put your T5 bulbs in bubble wrap, then into a 1.5" PVC pipe, then into a heavy duty box, it is really GREAT!!!

Re: Ya, another 90g build...but this one is MINEEEEE! :-D

Sounds like that'll work for me!

I'm thrilled cuz I just ordered them online from Debbie tonight. I'm guessing/hoping everything will ship out Monday. If I'm REALLLLLY lucky and UPS likes me, I might get it on Friday and can install everything over the weekend. WOOOOHOOO!!!!

Otherwise, I'd probably get it next Monday and work on it that night. LOL

I just can't wait. Next up is ordering the RO/DI unit next Friday night.

After that, it's really only the substrate and LR that I have left to get and then I can fill up the 90 and get her on the way to cycling! Hellllllllll yaaaaaaa!

If I wasn't using my tax refund to buy a backup camera body, I'd have it ready to go even sooner...but I guess patience is a virtue, eh?

I hope that it makes it Friday! Debbie ships the same day if you order before 1.

What camera body are you going to order? I am using my tax refund to replace my aging laptop... 3 years is REALLY old isn't it?

Re: Ya, another 90g build...but this one is MINEEEEE! :-D

3 years on a laptop?! You might as well have one built in 1920.

Ya, 3 years is a while on a laptop. LOL I'm just getting a Canon 30D body is all. Nothing major. It'll just go as a backup to my 1DMKIIN body that's in the shop right now. That's why I'm taking all my shots with my little Sony 7.2mp Cybershot.

I set my body down for a half a second and some kid at the racetrack ran up to the retaining wall (where he WAS NOT allowed to be) and knocked it off the retaining wall. That lady was almost childless after that incident.

So, it's being repaired by Canon currently, but I need a backup/secondary body anyway.

I'll definitely post up some pics when I get the lights in and installed.

I actually found the satin black Krylon Fusion today (at Walmart of all places. LOL) and might paint my returns tomorrow. If so, I'll post those up.

I love my 1D2N! I can understand why you were upset. The 30D will make a great backup, I use the 20D for my back up right now. I have been going back and forth about getting the MacBook Pro, or getting another 2N, and then selling the 20D. The 1D3 is an awesome piece, but I will have to wait a little for it to come down out of Lunar orbit in price, $5K is a just a LITTLE to MUCH!!!

Good find on the fusion, maybe I should have used that on my down pipe, I could still use it on my outputs.
