Reinhold, I dont have a digital camera but I did take about 15 pictures of my tank(you know with sand, with rock, with lights etc.) and next week I will scan and post them. Right now I dont have a DSB in my sump just some rocks, rubble and algae. So monday or tuesday of next week be on the lookout for my pics

Scubadude,
I also was inspired by the japanese tanks. I have way too much lr in my tank and want to remove some. Did you do it slowly or all at once? Did you notice any change in water quality before and after? I am concerned that I may have a spike until the tank can reach equilibrium again.

Hi Reefstud

I had proly 135lbs of LR b4 aquascaping....now probably 115...so I didnt take much out....and my system has been VERY stable for quite some time b4 I decided to do this. The tank has been running for almost a year now (11mos) I didnt appear to upset any parameters when I did this. Im sure it has alot to do with how mature your tank is....But I did take all the 25lbs out at once.....I was VERY careful to NOT disturb my DSB though. HTH

Hey Scubadude, I like what your doing too. Reinhold did a super job too. I like to rearrange my LR from time to time myself. I am wanting to do the hills on each side but I had the work. I keep looking at the tank and thinking how I might do it though, LOL

One thing i've found is that if I arrange LR on the side, its hard to get the magnet glass cleaner around. But if you do it in a way that covers the glass then the pods will really thrive on the algae you leave on the glass behid stuff thats not seen.

Scaping LR to the side takes care of the shadow the tank's middle brace sheds.
Watch for nitrite spikes after moving stuff, I found that to happen sometimes.

I do have a cool cave though
