    sand too thin

    Hello Boys and Girls,

The sand on the bottom of my tank is too thin in places, I understand that disturbing the sand can release pockets of nitrates. The truth is I did not add enough sand to start with.

Tank has been set up nearly 4 months.

Whats the best plan of action? Very gently add sand? mistake made, forget about it?

    Good times.

    Hi Phileep
    Welcome to Reefland!

I think this is a good option

You can use a piece of PVC pipe and put one end near the top of the SB and the other end above your water line and slowly add just a little bit of sand each day trying your best not to disturb the existing SB, LR, Corals, fish etc. etc. I would rinse your sand real well too before adding it into your tank.
