To save or not to save??

I was in my LFS today and I was perplexed with a decision. They had a Majestic Angel that had a case of Ich. I wanted to offer to buy him at a reduced price in hopes that I could save him in my Q-tank. I did not though b/c I did not know if he was reef suitable.

The LFS also had a green open brain that was not doing very well. He was being kept under NO lighting. I sincerely believe that if he were under my care he would thrive. Should I rescue him tomorrow or should I order one on the web. Of course if I were to get the LFS one I would insist on a discount.

Please help, I need some guidance!!

Ryan

Do whatever YOU want to do...Don't buy him just to "save" him (GOB), if you do that the LFS will just buy more because they are making money...even though they can't take care of him. If you buy the angel you risk the chance of other fish in your system to get ick. I'd leave the angel and let them treat him, and get the GOB if YOU want to..HTH

(All this comes from a person that works at a LFS)

Thanks MastaJ.

That was basically what I had decided on. When I asked the price on the GOB the employee quoted me $40 (after asking the owner). I am going to try for $30 or lower tomorrow when they are much less busy.

BTW I was going to put the angel in a Q-tank until his symptoms disappeared. I would NEVER add a fish to my tank with out a quarntine first.

A few members have gotten a: Red Brain that were not doing well, and after giving it good care, they now look real good. You can search back, to see the thread, and the progress pics. I got one at a reduced priced myself, I have been feeding it, and it is already starting to look much better, than when I got him.

here is a link with some pics
For those with Trachyphyllia...
