Unhappy Xenia Troubles

Is any one else having trouble with their Xenia, mine looked fine the other day, I did a water change on friday and everything looked fine on friday and most of saturday and now they look all wilted they aren't standing up they are just kind of slumped over and the hands are very small, the only thing I can think of is that the new salt water was 1.021-1.022 and the tank was at 1.025 so it level out to 1.023-1.024 could that have an effect on the Xenia? if so are they doomed or should they bounce back?

TIA
Michael

Unhappy

Well they died yesterday they just seemed to melt away. Not to sure what caused it, it might have been the water change, or the temp has been in the high 90's for the past couple of days here in Colorado, which raised the tank temp to around 80-85, I will have to reaseach a little more before I get my next Xenia coloney.

sorry to hear about your Xenia. did you pour the new water right over the Xenia or did you slowly add it into the sump. I often slice my Xenia right at the base or at different stalks depending on how its growing in order to sell the frags to my lfs. what i'm trying to say is that my Xenia always grow back even nicer, probably because my water parameteres remain constant. so most likely your water change did it....hth

i dont know if its totally dead there marvin....i had a frag of xenia in my old tank that i thought was dead for sure....for about 3 months.....then i tore it down and i sold the guy this rock w/ the supposed dead xenia frag on it.....sure enough it bounced back after a month. now he's got more than he knows what he can do w/! it may bounce back but you need to keep the amount of new salt water that comes into contact w/ it minimal.....odds are the salinity blast gave it a pretty big sting, for lack of a better word, so it pulled in....keep an eye on it......

I think it is pretty much dead, what is left of it is all shrived up and not very nice looking, looks like a pile of waste. I had planed to just leave it alone and see what happens and to watch my levels to make sure nothing goes out of wack. Thanks for your replys.
