Zoo's and Clownfish??

If I added some small Button Polyps [zoanthids] to my tank with my 2 clown fish would this be a problem? I haven't read anywhere online yet that said other wise, but I wanted to see what some of ya'll have discovered through trial and error, or trial and success? [hah]

TIA!

Re: Zoo's and Clownfish??

My clowns have never bothered any corals including the zooanthids. The only thing I've seen the clowns bother are hermits, snails, or nudi's who get too close to their eggs. Then they simply move the offending invert elsewhere. The zoos should be fine.

When you put them in the tank, did you use gloves or did you just pour them in like you would a fish [very gently with the bag in the water?]

Re: Zoo's and Clownfish??

I didn't actually put zooanthids in my tank. They just grew on the liverock as a bonus. But, when I do add anything to the tank, I always acclimate it first, and I avoid putting the pet stores water in my tank.

There are several ways to acclimate them, the purpose of which is to slowly bring the water conditions in the bag to match the conditions in your tank so you avoid any unnecessary stress. After they are acclimated you can just lift the rock out of the bag and place it in the tank. No gloves required but try not to touch them if possible.

Oh, ahah, I didn't know they came on a rock when you bought them. Does the same apply for regular corals?
