    Dual TDS meter

My readings on both input and output are never consistent now. The input fluctuates from below 100 to around 600PPM and now today the input is reading 000 and the output is reading 313.

Has anyone ever calibrated their inline meter? I see I can buy calibration fluid for it. I opened the back and see one adjustment on it, not sure if that is for both input and output or just input.

I just went back out there and the input is reading 517PPM.

    Mark,
I have a dual TDS but have never had to mess with it, my readings are not near as spurratic as yours are. I would definately suspect some malfunction in your dual TDS. I would first call the manufacturer and see if they could help you out. They may just say hey sounds bad, we will send you another one

I picked it up used about 3 years ago, so no warranty. I'm starting out first by cleaning the probes, the calibrating them, them either replacing them or just buying a new unit for 39 bucks.

I definately want to know how this turns out Mark, everyone loves the concept of the dual tds but from what I have heard the main downfall is what you are experiencing. I think the calcium deposits accumulate causing false readings on the probes. Maybe if we could devise a quick clean and then bypass of the probes when not being used they would prolong the life of these units.

I don't know, I have older version from Aquafx and had never had any issues with it. I might have a spare laying around, Mark. If you can't resolve this let me know and I'll look around for that extra copy and send it to ya. ;)
It's a simple plug and play type of dual monitor.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Re: Dual TDS meter

Thanks Gene, right now the probes are soaking in vinegar to see it that helps. The calibrating solution is on the way so that will be the next step. Then on from there if needed.

    I found this:
The Dual inline meter has a screw in the back that you can tune the calibration in with. With this meter you can use pretty much any solution. Please remember that when calibrating any meter you need to calibrate it at the level you are using it for. Just because a meter is accurate at 100 ppm does not mean it will be accurate at 1100 ppm. A calibration solution is a control solution that is known to be a certain TDS level. To calibrate the dual inline you will need to aquire a control solution. Then you will need to make sure the probes on the meter are clean and free of any old water or debris. The probes on this meter are located inside the T fittings so the T fittings will need to be removed for calibration. Next insert one of the probes into the cal solution and using a small screwdriver tune the small screw in the back until it reads the measurement of the control solution. Then repeat the same procedure on the second probe. Your done.
