Is my toadstool dead?!?!?!

Hi all, so i got this toadstool leather a week ago, and it has yet to open up. It's stalk is also drooping and it is withering away!!
This is my first coral, and i have read that they will shrivel up for a while, but it just does not look healthy.

Looks to me like it could be shedding. It's common for them to do that. They shed and then come back.

And sometimes they don't. If you start to notice a browning or red film beginning to form on it you may want to remove it. They produce a lot of chemicals and you don't want it breaking down in the system. I had one a week ago die in a 24hour period that I have been trying to nurse since last October. I tried it in four different places but couldn't ever get it to recover. Last Wednesday it was covered in what looked like cyano at first but but upon inspection was more gelatinous than stringy. I have a microbiologist trying to figure out what took it over that quick but the colony was shrunk up like that for a few weeks and then was gone. Sometimes they will shed their outer skin and come back larger and better looking.

Hard to say. Just watch it. What kind of lighting was it under vs what is it under now? I have a toadstool that I have had for several months and it is just now starting to show it's "tentacles". I have heard they are very moody corals. What are your water parameters and flow in the area it is sitting?
