My Tank and suggestions

Hi,
I am very new here to the forums and wanted to get some ideas.

Currently I have two tanks now. 30 gallon Oceanic BioCube which is perfectly fine....been up for a while.... that has no issues.....

I started a new tank in January ...i sold all my freshwater fish and converted to saltwater with the 55 gallon tank.

Currently it has two fluval 205's intakes on each end and out ports deadcenter and a power head on the far left (auto rotation on it) for flow..

On the far right side HOB is my 65 gallon Coral Life Skimmer (needlenose).

MY tank looks fine but when that metal halide kicks on and warms up. My tank seems a little foggy...kinda like lemonade very very thinned out lemonade not so thick =).

I really dont know how to get the crystal clearity I have on my bio cube. THe recent thing I did do was turn my mirrored backing around to the Purple mirrored backing and its toned down a bit... But it still lacks the crystal clearity.

I dont know what else to do and was thinking is there other modifications I should consider.

For example: taking my 3 trays out of each fluval 205 2 baskets have the bio ceramic rings and the end basket contains the carbon...

how about I just fill all 3 baskets with carbon vs having those ceramic cones?

Im kinda flustered because you would think two fluval 205's and a protein skimmer on a 55 gallon = a clear tank ....

My bio cube doesnt have as good of a media setup and is clearer...bah.

or last idea

basket 1 Purigen (using two fluvals that means x2)
basket 2 Fluval Carbon
basket 3 Fluval carbon

PS. I suspect my white slight cloudyness is due to particles kicked up from my last live rock major move....it did kick up a lot of dust...and I do have lots of white sand mixed with live sand. Roughly 50 pounds of it....

Do I need a water clearing solution like for freshwater...causes particles to stick together so they can filter ???

Re: My Tank and suggestions

Try using a fine mesh bag somewhere in the intake and run more carbon till it clears up

Did that...so far its looking much better... didn't know using sand over crushed coral would cause it to be so dusty =\....

hopefully it stays clear now.
