saddel anemone

I got a saddel anemone at petco the other day. My water quality is perfect and have 5 watts per gallon for lighting, but he doesn't seem to be acting to well. I was able to nurse a Condy back to health but this one is proving difficult. His color came back as he was a creamy white when i got him, now he is green. But his mouth is open quite abit as you can see. Any suggestions let me know

Re: saddel anemone

What is your nitrate level? Saddle anemones can't do nitrates over 20 and what is your phosphate level? They can't really handle over .50 long term. Take a look at those two things, If they are over those parameters do a major water change to bring them down and run some media.

Has the anemone moved at all since you got it in the tank? Or attached to a rock or in between the sand and the rock? Is there little thread looking things coming out of its mouth? What kind of flow do you have near it?

Re: saddel anemone

He is attached to the bottem of the tank. He was deflated for like 2 days but he isn't doing that as mush any more. Nitrate, amonia, nitrate, phosphat are all 0ppm. Water movement is 2,400 GPH with just the powerheads. There is twice as much in the protine skimmer collection cup as there ususaly is. His mouth is open about 1" by 1" (or more), most of the time.
There are a lot of brown thred/string things that are all over the tank (thanks to the powerheads) and are getting tangeld in the branches of my hard corals.
I was wondering about light shock, as Petco has very inaprropriate lighting.
