Zeolithes - Anyone tried this for SPS colour up

I've just bought some Ultra Lith as I've been told that used carefully it can help colour up SPS as it can really pull doen nutrient levels.

I've tried various phos controls and found Rowaphos to work best - can stain the water though - phosban good but more expensive in the UK

I'll still run rowaphos and GAC

Also i've read you need to use ther Fauna Marin products with Ultra Lith to get best results

Thoughts out there - anyone used this method???

Re: Zeolithes - Anyone tried this for SPS colour up

All of the various zeolite methods include a variety of associated products that are intended to be used in combination with the zeolites. These products usually include a bottle of specialized bacteria supplied by the manufacturer as well as a carbon source food for the bacteria.

There seems to be more than one zeolite system being promoted today so you will have to check around for the possible differences between systems.

I assume you have already read Fauna Marin's website, right? It would seem to me that if you are intent on trying one of these methods, it would be best to follow the vendor's recommendations. Otherwise, you may not achieve the claimed results.

This topic has been extremely controversial in the past, mainly because of the claims made by certain vendors as to exactly how their product worked. Some of the ad copy was a bit far-fetched, probably because it was poorly written. Last time I looked, there were at least two or three different German systems based on this concept, plus at least one French system and an Italian system. One thing they all seem to have in common is that they can be pricey.

Good luck!
