Macrodactyla doreensis

Just picked up one of these beauties on the weekend. I put him on a rock (not knowing any better) and within about half hour he was 3 times the size of when i first put him in . He seemed happy so i went to bed. This AM i woke up and he is sideways on the rock still partially attached. I know i should have put him in the sand, but i really liked the location on the rock...anyway, is this just him moving to a better location, or should i be worried? I know not to pull him off the rock, as i may damage his base. Do i just sit and observe for a while?
Thanks

Re: Macrodactyla doreensis

Hello,
About 10% of M. doreensis will attach to rocks on their own so you may have one that prefers the rock-work. Leave it alone and it will find the location is is happy with. They do not like high flow or high light. They do well under high output fluorescent type lighting. Krill, raw shrimp, silversides, and other meaty foods are good choices for feeding. Be careful how often you feed it as they can grow rapidly to 18+" (.75m). Once or twice a week should be fine.

Cheers,
Kevin
