Question Help with false percula

I have one false percula (had two, but lost one ). My false percula is tank-bred and will not host in my BTA. If I bought another false percula that was not tank-bred (smaller than the one I have), would it pair up and teach my retarded clown to host in my BTA.

Sorry about your loss. Entacmaea quadricolor anemones (BTA) are not natural host for the A.ocellaris anemonefish. Natural host anemones for this
species of clownfish are Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla gigantea and S.mertensii.
Anemone fishes and their host sea anemones

PS> I am not saying that Ocellaris clownfish won't accept BTA as a host, sometimes they do and sometimes they do not. How long have you had your clownfish and anemone?

Re: Help with false percula

Whether it is captive-bred or wild collected doesn't make any difference at all. As zhenya has already mentioned, Entacmaea quadricolor is not a natural host for Amphiprion ocellaris; however, the good news is that this species usually does accept this anemone as a surrogate host. This could take several weeks.

I would suggest you purchase another captive-bred Ocellaris, preferably one that is slightly smaller than the one you have now.

Good luck!

Re: Help with false percula

A trick I have used and has not failed yet...

I take a plastic basket (2) put your anemone in it and the clowns and place other basket on top of it (upside down of course), zip tie it...Guranteed in a week they will be the best of friends and inseperatable. Ive done this multiple times aith Aussies, Picassos, false percs and tank raised Ocellaris..

Just my 2 cents

I will definitely try. I was giving up hope, was going to get rid of my ocellaris . The clowns are so cute when they host.....total mellow moment. I will have to get Jade (anemone) out from under her rock.....any ideas? I'll let you know how it goes.
