i need to buy a new
pump as it appears the one i have now is on its last leg. I cleaned everything and its still not pumping much.
I have a 55g tank in the wall and keep about 5 gallons in my sump. I need to run tubing about 5.5' from the sump to the top of the tank. currently i think i have a mag 3... not 100% sure but the pump says the following " E160713 MODEL 3 Utility Pump. 8699." From my quick google search, I determined it to be a Mag 3 which moves about 350 gph which i dont think is enough knowing i have a 6' run of tubing. It was manufactured in 10/04. Suggestions anyone on what i should buy? |

MAG 7, how about your overflow, how many GPH can it handle? Eheim also makes a really nice pump, that is a little more pricey, but it is easier on the watts.

hmmmm..... that i have no idea.... how would i know? it is a continuous siphon overflow type...... seaclear 55g tank.....

What size drain pipe? A 1" drain line is good for about 600 gallons per hour, but a 1.5" is good for about 1500GPH. So figure it from there...

dumb question........ do you mean the u-tube diameter for the continuous siphon or the diameter of the tubing that runs down to the sump? there are two pieces...

Well, both. Do you have more then one U-tube, if not, then that will be the limiting factor.

no just one U-tube... the inside diameter of the u-tube is 1-1/8" outside is 1-1/4"....
OD of drain is 1-3/8".... Would you still use the mag7? |

Yup, due to head loss you will be fine. Also you can always place a valve inline too.
