    Powerhead

Finally got my powerhead today (3 days late ) but now I don't know the best place to put it. It is a Hydor Koralia 3000L/hr (792 gal). I will follow Ninong's advice about getting another one in a couple of weeks, but for now as I said where is the best place to put it. ATM I have it in the middle at the back turned slightly to the opposit side of my heliofungia. Is this the best position or should it be at one of the ends, my heliofungia is at one end of the tank and a fair bit of live rock at the other? Also how fair down in the water should it be?

I would place it in the right rear corner aimed diagonally across the length of the tank. It will have enough force to move the water all over your tank anyway.

As far as the depth is concerned, that's up to you. Just try it about 3" below the surface and see how that works.

Do you mean the right rear looking at attached pic (the side the heliofungia is on)? Also 2 quick questions:

    1. I really hate the green algae on the back of my tank but LFS siad I should leave it there - should I or is it ok to clean it off?

    2. I haven't seen my mandarin for a couple of days should I be looking to see if it has died and remove it (so much live rock involved with that) or do you not worry about fish that die (don't know if I like that idea) , can that cause problems, bacteria etc.

Yes, I mean the right side looking at the picture.

I prefer to clean the green algae off the walls of the tank.

It's always better to remove anything that has died as long as you can get at it. A dead Mandarin will not cause problems for you. All it will do at the most is cause a temporary spike in nitrogen but not anything serious. The scavengers in your tank will finish off its remains in no time at all. Even if you have no clean-up crew whatsoever, bacteria will finish it off within days.
