Green Open Brain
Hi Everone,
I am placing an order w/ P.A. today and am considering purchasing a Green Open Brain, I have always been attracted to these and would like to get one. But I wanted to check here first. My tank is 29G, 140W of PC/NO lighting and, a clown and a coral beauty. I am aware that the coral beauty may have a slight appetite for this. My tank has been up for about 4-5 months now and all parameters are OK except for a phospate level of 1.0. I am just wonderig if it would be OK to go ahead and get this or if I should not. Thanks, CaptK PS - I just ordered the Aquarium Corals Book by Eric H. Borneman, can't wait for it. And the Pocket Guide To Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael. |

A GOB should do fine in your setup. The angel could be a problem, as some individuals have proven, but until you try, how do you know if your's will be bad? Just keep it well fed and maybe it won't feel the need to think of you GOB as a food source.

Thanks Bojinx,
Speaking of food. I almost forgot. What do brains eat and how should they be fed?? Might want to know that before I even consider getting one |

I feed my brains 'meaty' foods twice a week. They get silversides, krill, and any other frozen or flake food that may make it to them. As far as how to feed, when my lights turn on in the morning, the brains feeder tentacles are extended and I just place their food on them and they pull it into their mouths.

Hi Chromis,
I am going to get mine from www.premiumaquatics.com It is a small one and is $19.00 I bet you could get a brain, they have others also, and get a few other things delivered to you over night for the same price. Just a thought. Check out their "live stock list" for brain availabilty -CaptK |

$65 is pretty high for a brain IMO. But I'm in Los Angeles.

$40 is a more resonable price for a green open brain any where in the states $50 max.
I feed my GOB 2 times a week with krill at night an hour or so after the lights go out when it puts out its feeders along with a few other lps's. |
