    Cause I was bored...

Actually, I had a mess and I needed to get equipment out of my display tank room. I didn't have a sump when I first started my 75 gallon AGA. I've been gradually adding more and more to the point, the display tank room looked like an equipment room with a pretty tank in it

Anywho, I replaced my 30 gallon sump with this 55 gallon tank I had laying around since I gave my freshwater fish to my step-dad. It took me all weekend for the change-over with numerous trips to the hardware store, waiting for DI water, and driving around looking for all the tornados the weather people said were in my area (north-central Iowa) yesterday.

    This is what I did...

Wow! That must of been fun!
I don't have a tenth of the plumbing you got in there and it made me crazy! Nice job though! As long as you don't forget where all those pipes lead to!
Also maybe you should get that old wig out of there!
K, don't pay attention to me, I'm tired and I have to go to bed...

Click my avatar to see my tank, it's getting so perdy!!

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and you get rid of him all weekend.

Both of you mentioned my Cheato...is it too much? I've let it go for a while because I had an algae outbreak in my main tank since before I put in my MR-2 skimmer and thought it would help reduce the other algae (it didn't--at least not as much as I'd like).

I haven't really given it much thought except for when it's overgrown and can't move anymore or when it seems to stop growing...is there a general guideline? Should I be pulling some off every week or so? How much is enough? I was thinking it was good to have a lot for the amphipods/copepods to thrive in, but I will removes some more if you guys tell me I should

Oh and one other thing...I don't have a check valve in my protein skimmer lines so if the power goes out, I will have to re-prime that pump and that wasn't too fun the first time I did it...I got wet

I would take a handful out each week man, call it nutrient export. 3 years ago, I would take 2-3 lbs. of caulerpa out of my fuge every other week. I just restarted my fuge today, and I am hoping I get to have that problem again!!!!
I don't like check valves, they seem to get stuck in either position, and then they don't work anyways!!! Looks like you may be hoping for not too many power outages. I am not familiar with that skimmer so there may be another solution that I don't know about. Sorry.
