I saw that on Anderson Cooper 360 last night. Campbell Brown is filling in for Anderson while he's off in the jungles of Cameroon with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Erica Hill brought it up and then both Campbell and Erica went gaga over the idea of the male sea dragon being pregnant. "I didn't know that, did you." "No, I didn't know that either." "Well, I guess you learn something new every day."

Dennis Christen, assistant manager of animal care and husbandry, said that male sea horses, sea dragons and pipe fish all carry the eggs instead of the female.

In the TV segment on CNN, the above information from the printed report was left out. They said nothing about the fact that all male sea horses, sea dragons and pipe fish carry the eggs instead of the female and they didn't explain that the female transfers the eggs to a pouch in the male's tail. In other words, they sensationalized the segment as "male sea dragon gets pregnant - wow!" Instead of it being an informative piece for the general public, it was just another "oddity" segment. Very unprofessional, as usual, from CNN.

I feel sorry for poor Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta off in the jungles filming another segment of "Planet in Peril." While they're trying to tell us all about the threats posed by global warming, their colleague, Glenn Beck, is telling us that the planet is NOT in peril and that global warming is a hoax. It is amazing that Jonathan Klein would hire somebody like Glenn Beck to spout ignorant reichwing propaganda while at the same time funding this very excellent series on the dangers posed by global warming.

CNN can't decide if they want to be like FOX or not. At least if you're dumb enough to tune in to FOX, you know what to expect. They're consistent. They're nuts, but at least they're always nuts. With CNN you never know what to expect. Oh, wait a minute, you do know what to expect if you tune in to that crackpot Lou Dobbs. If you tune in to CNN for actual news coverage, you never know if it will be unbiased or completely wacko. They sometimes go to the extremes.

All of the corporate media are corrupt to a certain extent but it's discouraging when you think a network is making an attempt to get things straight and then they go and hire some of the most right-wing lunatics on the planet and give them their own shows.
