Get rid of the copperband!;)
Congrats on getting the wellso to eat!![]()

I have removed several fish from my tank as a result of them nipping at corals, and it seems the wellso was always the first they tried. I guess those nice full lobes just look too tasty to fish. I had a flameback angel and a flame angel pick at mine.
I love the green on these corals. So intense.
Hi Dj
You do realize all the fish you have mentioned above are borderline fish for reefs
I have heard of some ppl haveing success keeping those fish with lots of different corals, However they do have high risk of "nipping" but maybe you can weather it and just feed both the fish and the coral real good.....maybe give a nice balanced diet and a wide array of foods to the fish, thus tantalizing the fish to hinder the coral less. If your welso is very important to you then I wouldnt bother with angels or butterflys! If you do stick it out then maybe shoot a tad of Iodine in there everyonce in a while if they are still picking on your wellso![]()

copperbands are reef safe according to Dr. Ron. I say if you have been sucesful with your copperband then he should come first. These are such delicate and beautiful fish that I would keep him. However could it be that there are tiny worms in between the polyps? Or a simmilar situation.
scubadude, what does the iodine do?
If the fish are nipping at the coral and the coral gets wounded then the Iodine will help the coral heal. I usually put a tsp. of Iodine in my tank when I put freshly cut frags in there.....Just dont overdo it and dont do it too often....this is just a trace element from what I have read. I usually do it every time I do a w/c too...maybe once a monthOriginally posted by clown-t

Which is more important to you... your fish, or your corals? Butterfly's and Angels should not be considered 'reefsafe'. Certain individuals have been docile in reeftanks, but this is usually attributed to tanks where everything is wellfed (or even overfed.) Most of the time, these fish will nip at corals. Iodine can help the coral heal, but why risk stressing the coral.

can't they all just get alone. i have a flame that doesn't bother the corals(ya). the butterfly doesn't bother it too much so i am going to buy some iodine and keep my eye on both of them. the wellsophyla is my favorite coral. thanks for all the great info.
My small Copperband does fine with my softies. She readily eats Mysis and has never been observed nipping at the corals, icluding stars and xenia which are both small enough for her to nip on.
Just another view.

Hey Scuba, Yes I do fully understand that the angels I listed as well as all angels are a gamble. I was just throwing out the fact that of fish that DO eat corals they always seemed to nip at my wellso first. ;)
I always like to give individual fish a try. I never really have a problem catching them in the end anyway.![]()
I figured you did, just makin sure....I would love to see more ppl try them and eventually we may learn a trick to make them more compatible w/reef systems. The knowledge we have now in this day and age was definately ascertained with some risk, so dont think im trying to discourage you, I just dont want your wellsophyla (sp?) to go out on ya eitherOriginally posted by djheywood
