Planaria
I have noticed an outbreak of a bunch of planaria worms in my tank. I have an well established tank that has been going on for a lil more than a year now. what is the best way to get rid of the lil bastrds. They are of a wine red color.

![]() We have discussed this topic in several threads in the past. Here is the most recent thread. Be sure to read all of it, including all of my responses. Salifert's Flatworm eXit is the product most commonly used. Before using it, you should read the above linked thread and then you should either do a search on this board or on Google for "flatworm eXit" and see what you come up with. You will find a wide range of reported experiences, including some people who were very unhappy with their experience using it. I believe the bottom line is that the product is mostly safe when used exactly in accordance with Salifert's instructions -- ALL of the instructions. Whether it is completely effective is another question altogether. Good luck! ![]() P.S. -- The reported biological controls are unreliable and usually not completely effective. For one thing, not many fish eat the red flatworms, just the brown ones.
