BTA Advice
I picked up a BTA about a month ago and he is doing great. However, he has done something that concerns me. My rockwork is basically like an igloo, I used a pvc pipe stand and stacked the rock on top and around it so that inside is open for fish to swim and hide when needed. Well the BTA has turned and is now facing inward. My concern is now I can't feed him, nor is the light getting to him. Should I go in and move him back out or wait and see if he moves? He has been this way for about a week now.

Re: BTA Advice
In my experience they most of the time move on their own towards the light source. It may have moved to avoid too strong of a water flow, or some other irritant. If it doesn't want to move on it's own you can also try rearranging your rock work around it, so that it is turned outwards and can receive light and feedings. What I am trying to say is that instead of trying to detach anemone try moving the rock it is attached to first.

Re: BTA Advice
Thanks Gene, that is what I plan to do if I need. I know trying to detach them could be detrimental. It has been a week now, how much longer should I wait until I move the rock around.

Re: BTA Advice
Sorry for dropping this thread, Tim. I'm out of town (well, sort of.. ) and my computer time is limited.
I would go ahead and try rearranging the rock right now so that anemone is accessible for feeding and gets enough light.

Re: BTA Advice
Thanks Gene, I did move the rock and it has moved back to the bottom side so I guess it likes it there. It is however opening out into the tank so I can get to it to feed and the light hits it.
I need to post a pic of it so you can tell me what you think.

The reason that anemone had moved it's foot out of view is that in natural setting they do prefer to hide it in the rock crevices, away from open water to avoid possible attacks and to have a place where they could retreat. The picture would be great if you could post it. ![]()
