    My tank

This is how my tank is progressing. It has been up and running good for about 4 months now. I have found lots of useful info on this site and would like to thank those who have responded to my posts and those who answer other posts. This is my first reef tank and I can say its quite addicting. It seems like I am always checking it and cleaning and rearranging something in it. Overall I love it and would recommend anyone that is thinking about setting up a tank...do it!

    Thank you,

    Nate

P.S. Big THANKS to the mods and everyone involved in making this such a great website.

Yeah, and a bit closer shots if you could. I like your aquascape, I can see some stughorn corals growing on it in the future...

    Re: My tank

Thanks for the comments. The main tank is 65g and the sump is 30g. I made the overflows, stand and sump myself. I have #55 of LR in the main tank and another 15 pounds of rubble down in the sump. There is a Mag 12 return pump and I use a Coralife 125 SS for a skimmer. I got a good deal on it, $100 brand new from a lfs( she said she could get me stuff at her cost). I plan to upgrade to a better skimmer in the future. I have 3 returns and 2 powerheads for water movement. The lighting consists of an Orbit PC 48", with a Coralife 36" PC(took that off for the photo due to everything looking overexposed). When both lights are on there is about 540 watts of light. I have 2 heaters in the sump along with a clump of cheato.

    Livestock
    1 six line wrasse
    1 yellow tang
    1 lawnmower blennie

    1 elephant ear
    2 trumpet corals
    1 hammer coral
    1 crocea clam
    3 ricordias
    2 blue mushrooms
    1 pulsing xenia
    3 sponges (1 orange, 2 white)
    5 nassirus snails ( I know I need more)
16 hermit crabs ( I know I need less... but I like them until they get out of line)
    1 toadstool
    2 colonys of zoanthids
    1 red fromia star
Various other things like feather dusters, snails and two little abalone looking things. Lots of little copopods and tiny things that swim in the water after the lights go out. You can see them with the moonlights. There is lots of life down in the sump also. Its really amazing to see all the stuff you have in a tank when you really look, especially at night.
I know this is a lot for a four month old tank but a lot of it was given to me by my brother when he took his tank down to move, he wouldnt part with the equipment though.

My 1 question is, I am out of the 5MB storage for the forums is there another way to post photos? I have some pretty good ones I would like to share.

    Re: My tank

There are few ways to go about that 5mb limit. You can become a contributing member and for $10 have unlimited space in the gallery.(contact Reefland for more details on that).
Secondly, you should reduce size of the images before uploading them into the gallery. Good rule of thumb is to resize your image at 800x600 pixels and depending on the software used it should yield a final size of under 200kb and still be a very nice image to view.
And lastly, you can create your albums at the Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket
it is free up to a certain size album.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Well I just became a contributing member, sent my payment via paypal. I look foreward to posting more pics. $25 dollars a year isn't much for the wealth of info on this site.

    Re: My tank

How long does it normally take before I can post more pics? The area where I can post pics to the gallery shows that all my available space for pics is being used.

Holy Crap! You really drank the Kool-Aide. You went for the $25 superduper premium membership including an exclusive Reefland designer T-shirt. I will send Scott a PM to tell him to get on the ball an activate your unlimited gallery space.

    Re: My tank

    Hey Scott,

How come the pay link doesn't say anything about the FREE designer T-shirt that is promised on the previous page? "We now also have a second Contributing Member option for $25.00 per year which includes the benefits above plus a Reefland.com T-shirt."
    Contributing Member
Optional donation made to support our Forums. Cost: 1 Year US $10.00
    Contributing Member
A contributing membership that provides the same benefits as the 1st option at a higher price just because you are nice and enjoy our community. Cost: 1 Year US $25.00
Why would somebody pay $25 instead of $10 if they don't get the famous Reefland T-shirt? Are you out of T-shirts? Is that some sort of a joke? Where does it say anything about getting the T-shirt they were promised on the previous page. It doesn't even ask them what size they want or their mailing address. What's up with that?

    Re: My tank

We are getting low on shirts so I am currently working up a new program (not to include the shirt but something else) so it is going through some changes. I have 2 shirts to send out yet (Samper and ibefishy) and will get them out and will finalize the changes to our contribution program.

    Thanks for the comments.
I just wanted to share a few pics from my tank.
As time goes on I may get it together and do a full building of my reef tank thread. I have pics from when I started building the stand to when I finally put water in it for the first time until now.
So far, for a first timer I am pretty proud of the outcome thus far.

    Re: My tank

Well here is an update on my tank. I was looking at it and discovered I really dont like the way I did my return plumbing. So now I am going back to re-plumb the return part of my tank. I used the clear plastic tubing and it was fairly easy to do, but I have discovered that algae really grows quick in the drain tube closest to the light for the cheato in my sump, also the return line going to right side of my tank. So now I am about to redesign and re-plumb my tank with the pvc pipe I feel I should of used from the start. I will post picks of my progress and let you know of my progress and successful plumbing project. Anyone have any advice that may be of help?

    Re: My tank

You can get flex tube that isn't clear, if you don't want to mess with the PVC. Check the last set of pics in my rebuild thread if you want to see what it looks like, I posted them yesterday. It was really easy to work with too.
