Got my first halfway decent pic of one of my corals, so I thought I'd share it...

Nice coral! Much longer tentacles than mine. Do you target feed it?

Half-way decent?
That's a great picture!
How long have you had the bubble? What type of corals are positioned around it?Scott |

Thanks... I said 1/2 way decent because it's a little dark of a picture. Makes it look like I have no lights on the tank at all...
Either way, here's details: It's actually 2 bubbles that came on one rock (LFS made a mistake in my favor). I've had them about 2 and a half weeks. I hand feed either a silverside or piece of squid (Both frozen... actually, thawed, but you know what I mean) about twice a week. The feeder tentacles are always extended through about 2-3 hours after lights go out, then the entire thing is receded. There are no corals within 4-6 inches of it. My tanks only about 3 months old, so I don't have it even close to fully stocked yet. Closest thing to it right now is a feather duster in the sand bed. Water params are: Temp: 79-82 depending on time of day and how hot it is in the house SG: 1.0235 last time I measured, trying to very slowly raise it up to 1.025 pH: 8.2-8.3 NH3, NO2, NO3: nada PO4: 0.3 (Is this OK? I have no idea what it should be even though I check it every week or so )Ca: 400 Alk: 9.8 (But my test kit sucks... Never buy Fastest... I want a new one) Glad you like the pic! They're my favorite corals... Rob |

What kind of camera did you use to take that and what speed film did you use? That pic is the BOMB! My camera sucks (Kodak Advantix) and I've wasted 4 rolls of film in the past week trying to get new shots of all my new corals.

Nice pic & nice coral Rob.
I found my FasTest alk. kit to be very accurate and quick to use. It gave the same readings as my very expensive , LaMotte & my Salifert. One thing, the reagent gives incorrect readings after becoming old. Less than a year.

Using my girlfriend's Olympus D-490 to take the pics. No film, it's a digital. I tried taking pics with my el-cheapo canon snapshot camera and couldn't get a single worthwhile pic.
Got some really neat blurry effects, but you couldn't even tell it was a fish tank ![]() |
