Coraline or just algae

How do I know if the green algae growing in my tank is coraline or other green microalgae?

Have you got a pic???? It is real hard to ID algae as it is!!!

Coralline is normally pink or purple.

Coralline algae is a calcareous (hard) encrusting algae that is usually lavendar, purple or pink, but it can be green. Nuisance green algae doesn't look anything like coralline algae.

If you're even asking a question about "green algae" in your tank, it's almost certainly not coralline algae. Just touch it. If it's soft, it's not coralline.
