ID Needed
Just got some corals in the mail and this little hitchhiker was in the bag with my green star polyps.
The guy at work was saying it's aptasia, but I've never seen an aptapsia that looked like this. Seems more like an aneome (sp) Anyway I wanted an ID before I dropped it in my tank.. These are the best pic's I could get right now, If you need better shots I'll try seeing what I can do. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: ID Needed
It's not Aiptasia.
Mark meant to say Majano anemone, which is what it looks like it could be. Do NOT under any circumstances put it in your tank or anywhere in your system.

Re: ID Needed
lol, yea been on it and haven't found an exact answer. Only that they spread fast and joe's juice doesn't kill them very well..ha ha
Too many useless readings finally lead me to this one Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine - Editorial: August 2005 what do ya think about tossing it out into that secondary bucket test I've got going? Dead rock, used SW and a small PH. This test is to just see if any coraline will grow by just using old tank water.

Re: ID Needed
Flush it. Just like Aiptasia, any tiny tissue particles can reproduce into new animals.
It is NOT something that you want to preserve under any circumstances whatsoever. ![]()

Re: ID Needed
Go figure, for once an anemone that didn't want to die on me and it's the toilet bowl type.
Well, on the brighter side at least I examined my new corals for small things prior to introduction in my tank. Now to start getting picky on where I get new coral from...
