Well in all of my research on corals for my soon to be reef I forgot one thing. How do I acclimate them. Is it just like fish? I kind of need a rapid reply b/c I have a green open brain floating in a bag in my tank right now. The LFS guy said that it should not be out of the water in the transfer. Is this true? If so how do I avoid getting the LFS water in my tank. HELP!!!

hmmmmm, well when I aclimated my corals I usually would take them out of the water, but they were just softies, I don't know if a brain would be like a spong or not

i'm sure your brain is already in the tank but when i added my open brain about 10 months ago i took itout of the bag and placed it in the tank, so basically it did get air. I have had no problems with mine so i dont think nor do i see how they would trap air, unlike a sponge...hth

Yes he is already in the tank. I also took him out of the bag so he was exposed to air. I have alreade fed him some silversides and he appears to be doing well.
One question though. I fed him some sally's frozen silversides. After I thawed them in a cup of tank water I cut their heads off. Is this necessary or can I leave the heads on? Ryan

I leave the heads on, and haven't seen any ill-effects. In the wild, they'd be eating the heads and bodies, so I don't see a problem with it.
