    Bio Balls needed for new 125g reef???

    Im getting a 125g tank and doing reef set up.....with a sump. Im planning on putting plenty of live rock in the aquarium....will I need the bio balls in the sump?...or any filter media at all....planning on going with super skimmer 125 or a ASM G3....Thanks for any help

    No, you should be fine with just the live rock. How many pounds of it are you getting?

    start off some where around 80-100lbs then gradually putting more in as time goes....would it be better to go with G3 skimmer, I think the G3 is rated over 200g and the super skimmer I was looking at was the 125g...since I wont have any filter media?

    That'll work. Just make sure you cure the later editions first before adding.

    It would be fine if I bought cured rock at LFS and then put it in wouldnt?.....If I bought rock that wasn't cured....would I set it in a seperate container for a couple of weeks?

    Yeah you could also do that or get uncured and do it yourself. Might also save some $$$ too. ;) It should take 2-4 weeks depending on the rock. Get a power head and a heater too for the container and you should be set. I have also heard others recommend putting in a drain (in the container) to make water changes easier.

    that would be salt water that they would cure in right? not ro water......Thanks for the help

    Yes you would use saltwater mixed up like for the tank. Np, glad to help.
