    6 ft. skimmer?

hello again everyone, wife works at private kidney dialysis center, (thats where i gey my r.o. water), anyhow there is a Dr. who works there and he had a 400gal. reef tank that he just converted back to freshwater. he has some equiptment he is willing to GIVE to me, a RO/DI unit, calcium reactor, and a 6ft. skimmer, a downdraft maybe? anyhow, what would be the smallest tank i could run off this skimmer? havent seen it yet, so dont what im in for. is there such a thing as over skimming. its for free, what the heck i'll take it, dont know a thing about calcium reactors any help?

I never thought I would say this, but I think a 6 foot skimmer may be a little to much for your tank. The skimmer on my 300 isn't 6' tall.

    Charlie,

OMG, a skimmer to big for Charlie, I gotta go bast while listening to Jerry(for Charlie), the rest of the stuff grab and give the guy a kiss on the cheek on your way to the door, even if you can't use it sooner or later you or someone you know will. Good Score, except the skimmer, donate it to a local aquarium

Milo, can you get a pic of that skimmer on here? The only 6' skimmer I have ever seen was a Bubble king, and that thing kicked some serious &*#. Of course it was on a 1000 gallon sps system over in Seattle.

For what it;s worth, people used to run this type of skimmers with air stones in them. They are not that bad at all once you get to know them...
    Kind regards,

I don't think I have ever seen a 6-ft downdraft skimmer. I wonder what he's using to run it?
