How many of you order frags/corals on-line and have them shipped?

Howdy All,

As a noob I just recently noticed a bunch of web sites that sell corals and frags on line. Have any of you ordered from places like this, and if so, how well do the animals ship and what, in general, has been your experience with places like this?

ive ordered about 4 corals off an ebay seller (red zoas, green ricordia, torch and a toadstool) and have had a good expierence everything is still happy in my tank for over a year now my ricordia split several diff times and now have 6 >

You should run a search on the particular vendor's name before plalcing an order. You can also check the list of sponsors on this board and other boards. Most vendors are responsible. There is one vendor in particular that is totally irresponsible but that vendor does not advertise on any of the boards. Probably because his sponsorship would never be accepted.

Another thing you could do is choose a vendor but before actually placing the order, start a new thread asking for feedback on that particular vendor by name.

I used to live in Southern California, was a great place to reef - met most of the West Coast folks doing this. They get all the Indio-Pacific stuff flown into LAX. Most of them sell to retailers, and highlight what they don't move to retailers via ebay. You can get good stuff/pricing - obviously shipping charges are the obstacle. But when you could drive by and take a looksy it was ripe for the picking. I've made a few orders since moving to TX and I'd recommend the WYSIWYG for the most part. That way you know what you're getting. Although, I do have a report with a couple of them in San Diego, and I can tell you they're good folks.
