    green tree coral

yet another question; obtained a green tree frag last week about 2"-3" placed in middle of tank, and now it is half brown, still opens but half it is brown. water checks are fine, lighting is pc 192 watts 10,000k and 192 watts actinic 384 watts total, from what i have read these pretty easy to keep, maybe a different placement? 65gal. tall with lights approx. 6" above waterline.

Can we lat this coral acclimate to it's surroundings before we declare it DOA? Remember nothing good ever happens fast in a reef.

    Milo,

Be SURE that you Nitrates, Phosphates, and Silicates are at the proper levels for these animals. What is your water source? Tap? DI? RO? Be sure to use RO water for there animals or else you can have problems with the above chemicals.

    Re: green tree coral

get my water from a medical facility, the purest water you can get. water checks are fine. coral seems to be doing fine also, believe there was not sufficient water movement around coral..........thanks

Did it come back a little? It is surprising what a move of 6" will do for a critter sometimes!!!

    Re: green tree coral

i saw the coral at the LFS and the base of it must have been 6-8 inches round and was blowing pretty good in the current, didnt realize that it would need such a flow, now have another issue; seen a bristle worm this a.m. must have been 5/8" wide and what i seen was about 4" long with the rest inside rock, never had one this big!
