Bristleworm ID books or websites???

I found a 5-6" bristleworm last night (looked tan with reddish bristles).
Unfortunately, it didn't want its picture taken last night. Does anybody know a good website or reference for identifying these?
I would just like to know if it's a good guy or a bad guy.

Ted ~

Check out Dr. Rob Toonen's article on bristleworms; he has lots of links in there, too. http://biogeek.ucdavis.edu/bristleworm.html

It's very hard to guess at what you might have; there are lots of possibilities. Did your live rock come from the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean? Could be the common Caribbean fireworm, Hermodice carrunculata... a bad guy. Might be Eurythoe complanata, too. Or maybe one of the larger Eunicids.

Thanks for the link and the photos, guys. Judging by the pics, it is not one of those, though. Ninong, all of my LR is Fiji LR. This is actually the first bristleworm I've seen in my reef for three years. (and I do alot of night viewing). He was right out by the glass on the left side of the tank going through old snail shells. (Hhmmm, perhaps that is why they are old snail shells!).

If I can get a photo of it, I'll post it. So for now, it's off to do some research. Thanks again, for your input!
