    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

    Hey Charlie,

I cooked lamb chops tonight(granddaughter is visiting ) and basted myself real nice with various liquids...not much into beers during winter times, though...

I know you can run a bit larger pumps through those overflows, I wouldn't go too much higher than specified but a bit more is OK. I use to run 45 hex with one of this and used mag 9.5 on it, no problems at all.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Darn Romans, and Charlie, history has proved they were not exactly patient, it lead to their downfall, but I got the message. Anyway, I've pretty much decided on the 9.5 and split it at the tank, and go with the remora pro that you suggested. It should work out pretty good I think. As you mentioned it is Saturday night, and I seem to be having a hard time typing, catch you gents tomorrow, gotta go, later guys.

    Tanks,

About the trailer, not much room for a bigger tank, that sucks, would prefer to use the 55 for a sump, but the wife would have me living in the bigger tank, with water in it, married Italian, they have a tendency to get there way
That should work just fine, Robert. You can put one on each side of the tank in the back and let it rip...

As far as that grape algae goes, keep an eye on it and don't let it take over. That is all I was saying.

    Charlie,

Going to the lfs mid to end of week, getting ready for my first coral addition, any suggestions, would like something colorful, Gene has already told me I'd better put some pics up of the addition, what would be a nice, colorful coral to start with

    Tanks,

That is PC's right? What do you want to have???? I think you should be able to get some LPS in there.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

another question, I've been looking through the galleries posted here, and I've noticed that there are a lot of tanks with multiple Tangs, eg, powder blue, purple, kole, yellow tangs, I've always been told that with the exception of yellow's(add 3 or more at the sametime)that you would have a battle royale going on, is this fact or fiction?

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

I was thinking LPS and Softies(wavies for you Charlie), is that possible? and yes the lights are PC. With the exception of price, colorful would be the only real preference, then we can add more as the romans get more road built.

Yes and No, does that help??? Too many variables with personalities and such. I sure as heck wouldn't do it in a 55!!!!

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

If you want the best guage as far as water quality goes, something from the euphyllia species. Hammer, frogspawn maybe.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

absolutely no that does not help, I was hoping to have just 1, either a hammer or torch, and put him at either end of the tank, away from every one else, got the perfect spot for it on a unique shaped piece of rock. He'd be seperated from the primary reef buy a good 9 - 10". Other than that one choice softies would be the preferred till I get a real good feel for what I'm doing

Frogspawn was what I meant instead of torch, I think.

Hey, it's qualifying day, a guy has to be on his toes ya know. The only problem with having softies with anything is the toxins that the softies give off. Not a good thing.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

reference pic 1 page one. It would be all the way to the right sitting on the chunk of rock, if that is still a bad idea, what would be a couple of really cool softies to start with, speaking of quailfying, your wife caught a break on the weather down here for speed week, supposed to be sunny and dry, highs in the mid to upper 70's for most of the week. Lucky her, last week I couldn't do any morning work because the water and suds was freezing on the cars before I could rinse them off.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

    Charlie,

After you peel yourself away from qualifying, if I went with LPS only, what would or which corals would I not be able to keep with my current set up? I've looked at some pics and am thinking I like lps more than the softies, Your thoughts please.

    Tanks,
    Robert

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

My thought?????? I actually think you would be able to keep most of the lps. Just a little dinking around with the placement of them would be the only thing. I like lps tanks!!!!! We have a guy around here that is going to do the lps thing, and I think he is gonna like it.
