I had to make some chow and do dishes....this Homer house husband stuff only can go so far.....................................
I actually think the rockwork looks good. You may want to get your "prize" pieces out more, but I think you can do it without disturbing too much, or ruining the look.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

Weekly update, have sad news to report, unfortunately my little perc disappeared completely night before last, he'd been eating well exploring the tank and the rock work and like charlie's, fell in love with my slab of Mushrooms, now up to 16 shrooms on that one piece, everything else is cool, fed the tank, said goodnight, turned off lights, next day, got home around noon lights come on at 1, was gonna feed the dudes, and noticed the clown was missing, tank is covered, cats didn't get him, just disappeared.

The skimmer has more than earned the 25.00 that I paid for it, is working great, dumping the collection cup daily, sometimes twice a day. Everything is kicking butt, except the missing fish, clown and Gramma, no evidence of foul play just gone. Oh, the urchin is about the size of golf ball and a half counting spines.

Oh, Charlie, I left the rock alone, the more I looked at the more I liked it, again, you the man.

    Tanks,
    Robert

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

Sorry to hear that, Seems to be going around, my percula disappeared just gone, Mike's purple firefish vanished too. I might have to get up in the middle of the night with red tissue paper over the flash light and see if I see anything nasty, haven't seen anything by day. But this is the second fish in 3 weeks to just simply vanish, lost my gramma first, and now the clown. No corspes or anything just gone.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

Oh, I did discover a very unfriendly looking little crab(thumbnail size) crawling along the back of the rock wall. I don't think he is the fish murderer due to his size, but you never know, any ideas how to get the pita out. Like I said he does not look friendly. He is kinda tannish brown in color, and ugly to boot.

chase him into a hole in the rock, the put 2 part epoxy over the hole! ;)

Or, just skewer him with a sharp coat hangar!

    Mike,

Has it ever occured to you that you have some violent tendicies, both are darn good ideas, but I've only seen him once, and he is on the back wall of the rock column, he most certainly has the best odds of staying put at the moment.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

I had good luck catching a crab with a baited jar. I got a wide mouth jar which in my case was a pint sized wide mouth mason jar, put some bait in it, set it in the tank at a slight angle propped up against the rock I saw him the most often hiding, and the next morning he was in there. The jar has to be at a slight enough angle not to scare him from going in, but severe enough that once he's there, he can't crawl back out...also has to be deep enough that he can't hang on to the lip and get the food without falling in. I used a meaty blend of food...Ocean Blend's Formula One frozen cube.

LOL! You guys should know that I detest the little buggers.... But, I had to cut back on the Karate lessons a couple months ago, so I have not been able to take my aggressions out on Black Belts lately.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

    Mike,

We all know how much you just love these little guys, but skewering him on a sharp coat hanger, I gotta get to him, I actually like the way my aquascape looks right now, and in order to skewer that little dude, I've got to see him and get to him real quick, I'm not up for tearing the tank apart again, just went through all that getting the trigger out.

    Re: Parrothead's 55 gallon Reef

Charlie, Mike and anybody else who wants to chime in

Got a line on some coral frags, good pricing, just need to be sure I'd be ok with them, so I figured I'd check with my reef guru's first. Here's what I'm looking at.

these are all frags, which is kinda cool, I get to raise them

    Colt Coral Frag - 15.00
    Pom-Pom Zenia - 10.00

And at time of post I'm waiting to hear back from him about some ricordia shrooms. He also has some zoo's and polyps too. He is here locally, actually just done the street, he is pushing his tank towards sps only. So I figure I might get some good deals here

Guys and Gals, your thoughts are needed and welcomed

    Tanks,
    Robert

P.S. And yes Charlie, I know I will have to post pics when I get them in the tank
