    Skinz's 12g nano.

Hey guys and gals, I thought I would add my 12g nano. It has been up and running for approx 3 or 4 months now. I currently have a Nova Extreme 24" T5 4 bulb fixture over it. I have a 50 w stealth heater in it. and a rio power head. No skimmer, just frequent 2 g water changes. If you wish to view this tank from day one you can do so here.[/URL]

I have a Koralia nano on order for it now.

    inhabitants include:
    8 redleg hermits
8 adult nassarus snails - they laid eggs and now I can see hundreds of babies in there.
    1 sun coral
1 flourescent green star polyp frag
    1 frilly mushroom rock
    1 watermelon mushroom rock
    1 acropora frag
1 pocillipora frag - I think it dropped 3 polyps though
    2 zoanthus frags
    1 fox coral frag
and 1 toad stool leather frag.
For some reason my photobucket saved the pics very small and I deleted them from my computer. Sorry.
This pic has a small polyp that I have circled. I think my Pocillipora has dropped 3 polyps.

    Some zoo's and shrooms

    Toadstool leather frag

    That's really nice, skinz!
What's that clam shell for? Trying to grow something on it?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Re: Skinz's 12g nano.

LOL yep, gonna try and get somthing to grow on it. Plus it is covered in coraline, so I am hoping to seed the tank a little better. The original rock I used was dry.

I have lost a lot of very nice clams lately and currently don't have any. I need to find a clam supplyer who can get me very cheap, low grade clams that I can do some testing on. I think I am very close to finding my problem. I think it is my RODI filter causing the deaths. But not 100% sure. All of my corals and fish are thriving.

Hey zhenya the photo contests are up on RAF if you care to vote.

Hmmm, I doubt that your RO/DI is a cause of death of your clams. Even if it is faulty all it can do is pass some NO3 and PO4 which should have caused algal blooms but not deaths of clams.
There could be some chloramine that is not removed by your particular filter cartridges, but that as well wouldn't wipe out your clams.
Have you looked into predator possibility? Have you used any meds in this tank?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I have tried everything. No predators that I can see. I did fw dips ran lots of carbon.

This twelve gallon tank was set up completely with new stuff and I was sure that I had no cross contamination from the 75 g tank. I still lost all my clams in it. The only common thing was the water.

Nope no copper. I tested it and plus all corals and inverts are doing great.
