All right, heres the aquascaping, all PA live rock. As you can tell from the picture I still havent learned how to use a camera but you can see the basic idea. Will have more and better pics by next week.

Thumbs up Very Nice Chromis!

I take it that the middle compartment in the sump is gonna be a refugium? I would like to see more closeups of your setup of your sump/refgium....If you dont mind sir! It all looks good! I do the same thing with my camera....just try turning the flash off and using lots of light in the room if you can....Just a matter of getting the right angle thats all GOD I want one of these 30gal longs!!! Im using a 10gal and a 20gal to serve as my sump refugium area!!

Wow! thanks, its 90 pounds of cured live rock, definitly worth $3.59 a pound. Yeah, I thought it would be alot but it all fits together nicely. The lights are gonna be a while, I figured I cant keep corals for a while, might as well spend the money on detrivore kits. But I will hopefully have the hanging fixture done by the end of summer. Scuba, make sure you have a tall enough stand for the 30 long its a PITA to get anything in or out of the sump, if I ever want to take my skimmer out Im gonna have to empty the sump. Right now the middle section has alot of grape cauperla in it I found w/the rock. Theres also a few pieces of rock and alot of rubble. I bought some red hawaiin macro but it dosnt seem to be doing to well.

Question

Hi again. After looking at the sump, I was wondering why you decided to have the baffles so high in the tank? If the power goes out, will your sump hold all of the excess water or will it overflow? Just wondering. Thanks!

Joanne, I decided to have the partitions so high in order to have the most water in my system and to have a large refugium. I test the power outage thing constantly. I have a small hole drilled in the return hose attachment that breaks the siphon by allowing air in when the water level drops. Only a gallon or so backflows from the return line before it stops. The 3rd compartment dosnt even fill up all the way. After the power comes back on, everything automatically starts again. I also have my overflow set high so only a few gallons pour into the sump when the power is cut.

HTH

Well, I wont be getting the balck oceallaris clowns. I just went to the lfs, you know "for some snails". I ended up getting a pair of "weird" tank raised percula clowns. One is all orange with a spot and the other has 2 stripes and a spot. I have seen pics of these somewhere, but I dont know where. They are already "snuggling", really cool. I am not sure however if they are true percs? I counted the dorsal spines on one and I think there were 8. Would this be a true perc? Oh yeah, I also got a couple 2" turbo snails.

thanks

A little camera hint

Do not stand directly in front of the tank while taking photos (flash). Stand at an angle.
