Hello,
Here is my first attempt at a video of my 600 gallon reef tank. I compressed it quite a bit so the quality is not the best but you get the idea anyway.
Cheers,
Kevin

Nice, Kevin, but why did you have to compress it?

Hi George,Nice, Kevin, but why did you have to compress it?
I didn't realize until later that I could upload/YouTube would host such a large file size. My camera records in .mov and I converted it to .mp4 and could control the compression so I went for a large compression to keep the file size small. I know better now as that was my first attempt. Actually I had my son help me, OK he did most of it

very nice, Kevin...almost as good as seeing the tank in person. Makes me want to rip out some walls in my house on the upstairs floor, but my wife keeps saying things like NO and how much would it cost and how much would you have to do to the floor to support it....all mere details. I will just come over and drool again in the near future :-)
Nice, Kevin!
Even heavily compressed, I would've never seen it otherwise. Stills are stills but video makes it "LIVE"...![]()
Kind regards,
Gene.

That was awesome- the video and the tank![]()
Video compression is a pain in the neck. I've spent hours and hours trying to come up with the best compromise between size and quality. And then Youtube compresses it even more, even more ruthlessly.
Blennies and Gobies are the coolest fish in the ocean! Latest video of my tank.
Wow - AWESOME!
I am so jealous, what a beautiful piece of work. Perfectly laid out I might add. That thing must take so much work, $ and attention! You must have the same cam as me, an Aiptek Go-HD. Very nice work.
Thanks for the kind comments. I used an old Nikon Coolpix 5.2mp camera to shoot the video.
Cheers,
Kevin
