    Re: A whole new dimension!!!

WOW, it's been awhile since I've posted to this.

Well, I recently finished re-aquascaping the tank. I like the look much better, AND have more room for coral growth.

I've also purchased more lighting for the tank to add to my old lighting. Now, I'm having issues with my old lighting. My 6X54 Tek5 starting giving me fits. I'd narrowed it down to one of the ballasts. Replaced that ballast yesterday, and it wasn't the problem. I had an electrician test everything out for me today and we figured it out. It's a bad end cap. This $1.95 part is keeping the center 4 bulbs from firing...lol. End cap should be here in Saturday. Once the 6 bulb fixture is working and back on the tank, along with the new 4 bulb fixture, I'll get some new pictures taken!!

I'm also in the process of moving corals back into the 200, from the 40. A lot of corals didn't survive the CO2 problem. I also have a huge crab in the 40, that's taking out zoanthids on a nightly basis. No idea how it got in there, but it's probably been in there for a couple years. Nothing new has been added to that tank in that time. I just discovered this guy about a month ago. Haven't caught him yet. After everything gets moved back into the 200, I'll tear the 40 apart, catch the evil perpetrator and banish him to my sump!!

    Crabcakes are one option!!

Thanks for the offer James. Didn't realize you were still around and keeping a tank. Thought you'd sold everything and moved to Cali. Yep, slow and steady lately. I've had a lot of other, non reef related things, going on in my life lately.

    Charlie,
I'll definitely PM you and will probably give you a call this weekend. Looking forward to seeing you when you head over this way!!

Hope to have pics posted in a couple of days. Wanna get the new end cap installed, so ALL the lights are functioning for pics...lol.

Thanks Robert!! That is a beautiful frag!!

Finally got around to taking a few full tank shots. As you can see, I need to scrape some coralline...lol. I've also gotta get some corals glued to rocks, so I can eliminate 1 or 2 frag racks.

Good Job, looks good, those big things on the returns, I assuming they are used to disperse the flow, mind sharing what they are called, and also what is your main return pump???????????? Remember, I warned you I'd be picking your brain

Robert, those are Eductors, also known as Penductors. They increase volumn and velocity of flow, by drawing water from the tank, through them, as water is pushing through them from the return pump. They typically increase flow and velocity about 4X. However, they create back pressure on the return pump, so your return pump must be "pressure rated." The Eductors are attached to 3/4" Sea Swirls, which I have unplugged right now, so they don't rotate. My return pump is a Mag 18.

    Thanks for your kind comments!!!

Oh and remember, I warned you that my brain will be slim pickins....

You need a visit from good old uncle Charlie, that will help the pickens in your brain.

    Charlie,

You think between the 3 of us we can put together a whole brain

Thanks Sid, for the help there, I am really looking forward to my big tank, I've got about half my equipment list started, I'll post the whole thing in my thread.

Thats if I can ever stop drooling over the pics you and Charlie keep posting today
    Tanks,

Between the 2 of us, we may come up with enough to pick each other's noses. How's that saying go....?

Coral in need of Behavior Modification!!!

So, Angie just got home, and points out that our Bubble Coral is attacking an Acan. Earlier today, I took and posted a macro of our Bubble Coral. At the time, it was being a model citizen. Here what we just caught it doing:

When I reached in with the grabbers, to move the Acan, that tentacle stuck itself to the grabbers...lol. Grumpy Bubble Coral!!
