    Question worm ID please

Saw this worm about a month ago, but the pics I took were real bad. Today, I saw it come out to steal a piece of squid for itself. It's about 8" - 12" long, seems soft bodied, real quick in it's movements...

Beats me? if in doubt, pull it out haha. Im sure it was a hitch hiker on some live rock, but if you have any clams or scallops then a worm like that would most likely start to threaten them when it gets a bit larger

My eyesight isn't good enough to attempt an ID but I would vote to REMOVE it.

actually at that size it could def. do some damage to clams or other items like that. i misread the size u had posted. if u get a couple purple firefish they will eat smaller ones before they get that big. but i think u should def. take that sucker out

    Eric,

The main reason I suggested that you take it out is because I suspect that this worm is in a family that I wouldn't want in a reef aquarium. However, my eyesight is not all that good right now, so I hesitate to say what I think it is.

I'll ask zhenya to comment. He has better eyesight.

I too suggest removing it from aquarium. I'm not at home right now and all my references are there, so I can't definitely say what family it belongs to but it looks like a predatory worm.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.
