How long before adding LR ?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how long i should wait after mixing salt water until i add LR ?

This isnt my first tank .......ive got LR in storage at the LFS after i started over with my setup. Last time round i had to wait as i needed ££ for the LR wheras this time i can go right down and pick it up whenever.

Generally, most people aerate the water with an airstone for 24 hours before adding it to a tank. That might not even be nescessary in this case. I say just dump the rock in.

Two is only loosely associated with two by a plus sign and therefore doesn't enter the equation at all since it is only there by mere complicity. We shouldn't count it and leave well enough alone.

Cheers for the fast reply Mark

I've got it mixing with a Tunze 3000lph PH at the moment....so its pretty turbulent in there. i realise it wont be "fully" mixed in such a short period of time but you recon it shouldn't have any negative effects then ?

I'd say wait what's 24 hours in the grand scheme of things right? I would be worried that the varied levels of the salt water unmixed would cause undue stress on anyhting living on my LR since you aid this LR is from a previous set-up I assume it has life on it. I'd wait till the salt water is properly mixed before adding the LR. Have you considered a PVC structure to support you LR in this setup? Take it slow you'll enjoy it more... either that or you'll tear all your hair out
