Fish suggestions fo SPS setup ?
Hi Again,
The idea for my new setup is prety much SPS only, i intent to try and establish it with one or two large wild colonies with frags only making up the rest of the stock. Does anyone have a suggestion for fish for such a setup....ie ones associated with SPS. Possibly Green chromis ? The setup will be about 300 lts total. BTW.............Ninong, how are you getting on with that setup of yours ? I haven't been about for some time so i recon i may have missed some news ? Did you get the Geissmann light units........i saw some at my LFS the other week....very sexy indeed ![]()

Hi Marc,
Haven't seen you around in a long time. ![]() I wanted to get the Giesemann System 260 fixture, but $2300 seemed a bit steep for a 4-ft fixture. I still consider it to be an excellent fixture, just expensive. I ended up getting a 4-ft Aquastarlight Future with 2*250w 10KK HQI dbl-end lamps plus a 25w blue incandescent moonlight (on separate power cord) in the middle. This fixture was just a little over $600. For actinic supplementation, I have a 4-ft Phazer II with 2*55w actinic PCs--this fixture was totally FREE , it's a long story. Anyway, the tank is still in the garage and the light fixtures are under the bed. I have some health problems that I have to take care of first. Ninong ![]()

Hi Ninong,
Yea one things for sure ....................Geisemann units sure do cost alot! I think they have to be the most "wife freindly" units on the market though I hope you sort out your problems sooner rather than later............all that knowledge you have upstairs waiting to be put into practice Thanks for the update.

Marc, in my 120 sps tank, I have a school of 8 green chromis. They have just lately been freed to school again after tearing the tank down to get a xtra-large half and half wrasse out. Anyway, they are now again actively schooling and hopefully making lots of poo for the sps. I also have a nice purple tang and a false lemonpeel angel and a gold w/blue neon spot goby{?} for the rest of the tank mates. You could have some anthias or a couple of tangs for the tank you are talking about. Sounds very nice!!! Keep updated on it's progress.

This may sound weird, but we just purchased a small group of "convict" damsels (the ones with black and white stripes) and the five of them just sort of hang out together around the larger sps corals in our tank rather than swim back in forth in the open water, as--I think--the green chromis tend to do. A great addition in our view. Ditto schooling chromis.
