    ? about my turbos

    my water is as such

    ph 8.3
    no2 0 ppm
    no3 <20 ppm
    amonia 0

i added 5 small hermit crabs
    4 turbos

i acclimated them all over the course of 2 hours and during that time the snails were climbing all over the hermits.(2 drips per second into bucket with water from my tank until salinaty matched that of the lfs)
once i placed them all the hermits went right to work on the LR and LS very happy and very active. The snails however retracted and have not moved since.I believe them to be dead but would figure the hermits would swoop down and go to town on the dead flesh.

anybody have an idea what they are doing or if they are dead it has been about twelve hours since they have moved.

    Re: ? about my turbos

I have never had turbo snails do that but I have had cerith snails do that -- play dead for the first 12-36 hours. I would just hope for the best and not touch them for the first 24 hours at least.

    How large is your aquarium?

    12g jbj nano cube

i have about 10lbs of LR and 6lbs of LS with one o clown.
    thank you.
i have read that some people placed them directly onto the LR and they went right to work.
would where i place them have any effect?

    Re: ? about my turbos

I would place them on the live rock, not the sand. That's what I did with the four Mexican turbo snails that I added to my 120-gal tank.

The only snails that I placed on the sand bed were Nassarius snails and cerith snails. I placed my turbo snails, trochus snails and nerite snails on the live rock. The only snails that took a long time to "wake up" were the ceriths. All of the others started moving around almost immediately.
