Help!!
I came back from vacation and noticed my neon gobie is in one of my overflow boxes. He is alive and seems fine. How do I get him out? There is NO way I can net him in the overflow. There is not really enough room for my hand with the stockman pipe and return line.

If I had something to siphion with that might be a possibility. I have a old gravel vac siphion but there is any way to get it in the box. Any good plans for a slurp gun??????

is there anyway you can pull out the pipe in your overflow box so he just flushes down to your sump?

Yes, I can. Do you think he would survive the flush?

How about a SMALL net, there is one at the LFS that I work at that is about an inch long...maybe that could fit?
BTW, I think he would survive the "flush"... HTH

I just thought of this...
How about putting a net at the bottom of you tubing where it enters the sump when you "flush" him down there...That would work, wouldn't it?!?

I am going to try the "flush" this evening. Lets hope for the best. I will be able to get him once he crosses over a partition in the sump and into the refigium area.

I had the same thing happen to me with my pearly jawfish. I did the flush thing and he did fine. It was kinda scary though. Make sure you turn your return pump off just in case .

I cant get him to go down. I have unscrewd the fitting from the bulkhead and I ease up on him and open the hole up. As soon as I do he swims over and sits next to a pipe so he doesnt get sucked down. I may have to let the opening stay open much longer to get him down. I did get a few hermits and snails down the tube though.

Ltspd,Can you hand fit a 90 degree pvc elbow onto a piece of pipe and coax him in to the open end.You may be able to angle the pipe with him head first into the elbow and lift him out.Try some 1/2" pipe.

same thing happened to my pearly jawfish a bunch of times, i had to keep letting the overflow fill then pull the siphon tube until the suction got him...i had to do this a bunch of times because otherwise you just get water splashing down...

Paul,
Any luck yet? How is the new tank doing? I don't get around here much anymore so if you have some new pics I'd love to see them.

Jeff,
Still no luck but I havent given up yet. Tank is doing well but I have taken a break from messing with it and started riding again. The Giro and TDF have me motivated. I have good coraline growth starting and it should explode when I get the calc reactor up and running. I have a few small simple corals so far, but with the limited supply of stuff here in Asheville I am limited unless I MO. Once I get the reactor up I will begin to add more. Have several fish and all are doing well. Well, except for the 2 MIA enginner goibes that disappeared while I was on vacation. Dont have any pics but will sometime. Hope things are well there.

It's nice to hear the tank is doing well. It's hard to find time to work on tanks during the summer months. Once the weather turns cold and the snow starts flying I'll be spending more time on mine. You'll love the calcium reactor once you get it going. IMO a calcium reactor and an auto top off are the 2 best pieces of equipment you can buy.

what about filling a bucket with tankwater and pouring it into the over-
box with the tube removed to 'flush' him down the plume? As long as there are not jagged things for him to get ripped on he should be ok. If that doesn't work, you could electrify the water and he will float to the top... ![]()

You should train him not to go in the overflow
I was going to suggest you try a small piece of LR, I know my gobie loves to hide in the rock. Maybe he'll hide in the rock and when he does...just pull the rock out. This was the way I removed my Hippotang from my tank.

good luck getting a piece of LR into that overflow
![]() I think the best method would be a syphon tube.
